Edgerrin James Early Life

Edgerrin James was born in the Florida town of Immokalee on August 1, 1978. He grew up in a big family. James had four other siblings when he was growing up. He was referred to as the man of the home by his mother. From the time he was a child, he took his mother’s remarks seriously and began acting responsibly.

He enrolled to Immokalee High School in Florida for his studies. He has been the top running back since his high school days. In fact, he was one of the most successful running backs at the institution.

He was also the first student in school history to have two straight seasons of 100-yard rushing games and 1000-yard rushing yards.

The Indianapolis Colts selected James in the 1999 NFL Draft. With the professional soccer squad, he signed a seven-year contract worth $49 million. Some commentators thought his inclusion on the team was a mistake. He did, however, silence the doubters by delivering a spectacular performance. He was even named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press in 1999.
