Tom Giradi, also known as Thomas Giradi, is a former United States attorney. He founded Girardi & Keese, a law firm in Los Angeles. Tom is also known for being the ex-husband of Erika Jayne, a member of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The legal difficulties of Tom and his ex-wife Erika were recently featured in the ABC News Originals documentary The Housewife and the Hustler. Tom was accused of defrauding millions of dollars from the widows and orphans of plane crash victims.

Tom Girardi has had three marriages in his life. In August 1964, he married Karen Weitzul, with whom he divorced in 1983.

He married Kathy Risner later that year, in September 1993. According to rumours, they separated up in the 1990s. Tom and Erika Jayne exchanged wedding vows in January 2000. Erika is well-known for her roles on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and The Real Housewives of New York City. Tom has also appeared alongside her on the reality show.

Erika and Tom divorced in November 2020, according to Erika.They were sued after a month for using their divorce to embezzle money meant for the families of those killed in the 2018 Boeing aircraft accident. Girardi quickly made a name for himself as a top consumer lawyer in California. In fact, for his medical malpractice lawsuit, he became the first attorney to receive an award of more than $1 million. He has worked on high-profile lawsuits involving firms such as Lockheed Martin, Pacific Gas & Electric, and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Tom has also worked for seven of Hollywood’s major film studios.

Tom’s most well-known case was against Pacific Gas & Electric, which settled for $460 million with 650 residents of Hinkley, a desert hamlet. The case was later used as the basis for the film Erin Brockovich, which came out in 2000. In the film, Tom also served as an adviser. In 2003, the California State Bar recognised him by inducting him into the Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame.

Tom has also served as President of the distinguished International Academy of Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only organisation with a global membership of only 500 trial lawyers. He was, in fact, the first trial lawyer to be named to the California Judicial Council.

Girardi also gained notoriety as a result of his efforts in Democratic Party politics, where he donated millions of dollars to a number of elections. He also supported governors with judicial appointments and was influential in fundraising efforts. His assets were blocked by a federal judge in Chicago in December 2020 after he was suspected of misusing at least $2 million in customer monies. He embezzled money from the relatives of those deceased in the Indonesian airline tragedy.He was required to attend the first bankruptcy hearing in January 2021, but no one from his law firm showed up. In March 2021, he was charged with a slew of financial misdeeds, including stealing $17 million from a group of two dozen women who claimed hormone replacement therapy was to blame for their illness. On March 9, 2021, the State Bar of California cancelled his licence.
