About Namrata Shirodkar

Namrata Shirodkar is a well-known Indian actress, model, and producer. She is mainly known for her work in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Marathi films. Namrata also popular for being the wife of great South actor Mahesh Babu.

Namrata Shirodkar was born in a moderate Marathi-speaking family on 22 January 1972 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Her father’s name is Nitin Shirodkar and her mother’s name is Vanita Shirodkar. She is the elder sister of the actress Shilpa Shirodkar, and the granddaughter of noted Marathi actress Meenakshi Shirodkar. In 2000, Shirodkar met Telugu cinema actor Mahesh Babu on the sets of their movie Vamsi. They began dating shortly after filming finished. On 10 February 2005, they married at the JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu during the shooting of Athadu. The couple is blessed with a son Gautam Krishna, and a daughter Sitara Ghattamaneni.

In 1993. Namrata Shirodkar worked as a model and was crowned Miss India. Shirodkar represented India in the Miss Universe pageant and ended in 6th place. In the same year, Namrata also represented India in the Miss Asia Pacific contest and was elected as the first runner-up.

In 1977, Namrata appeared in a brief role as a child artiste with Shatrughan Sinha in the film Shirdi Ke Sai Baba. Her debut movie was meant to be Purab Ki Laila Pachhim Ki Chhaila, with Manoj Kumar and Sunil Shetty in the lead and music by Nadeem Shravan. This movie was never released. The movie was completed after her retirement and the title was changed to Hello India but it is still awaiting release. In 1998, she made her original debut with a short role

Career

In 1999, Namrata Shirodkar then went on to star in the hit movies Vaastav and Kachche Dhaage. Her performance was praised and she became a known name in Bollywood. Then, she appeared in the film Vaastav: The Reality as Sonia. In the next year, she performed in many hit movies including Hera Pheri, Aaghaaz, and Pukar.

In 2001, Namrata appeared as a lead actress along with Ajay Devgan in the film Tera Mera Saath Rahen, which was a commercial hit at the Box Office. In the next couple of years, she performed in Hathyar: Face to Face with Reality, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, Tehzeeb, and LOC Kargil.

In 2004, she appeared in the English language movie Bride and Prejudice. In the same year, she portrayed the role of  Mrs. Kunti V. Prasad in the film Insaaf: The Justice. Her last film was Rok Sako To Rok Lo in 2004.
