MrBeast, whose real name is James Stephen Donaldson, is an American YouTuber, businessman and philanthropist whose channel became the most subscribed on YouTube.

Born in Wichita, Kansas, and raised mainly in Greenville, North Carolina, Donaldson started uploading videos in 2012 under the name MrBeast6000. His early videos included gaming clips, commentary and estimates of other YouTubers' wealth. He broke through in 2017 with his endurance-style video where he counted to 100,000.

Since then, MrBeast has turned YouTube content into a large media and consumer business. His videos are known for expensive challenges, fast editing, large cash prizes, unusual experiments and philanthropy-driven stories. Public reports list his main YouTube channel above 500 million subscribers in July 2026.

MrBeast's company, Beast Industries, connects media production with consumer brands, software and entertainment. Public reporting says the company generated hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue and was valued in the billions.

Philanthropy is central to the MrBeast brand. His videos often turn donations, medical help, home giveaways and large public challenges into entertainment. Critics sometimes question the ethics of content-driven charity, but supporters argue that his projects produce real-world help at huge scale.
