Dulquer Salmaan is a well-known Indian Actor, Producer, Playback Singer. He is also known as DQ, who predominantly appears in Malayalam films. He is famous for playing the role of Charlie in the Malayalam Film Charlie in 2015. Dulquer is the younger son of great Malayalam actor Mammootty.
Dulquer Salmaan was born in a Muslim Family on Monday, 28 July 1986 in Kochi, Kerala. His father, Muhammad Kutty Paniparambil Ismail aka Mammootty, is a popular Indian actor and producer nad His mother, Sulfath Kutty, is a homemaker. He has an elder sister, Kutty Surumi. On 22 December 2011, Dulquer got married to Amal Sufiya, an architect, in an arranged marriage. The couple is blessed with a daughter, Maryam, who was born on 5 May 2017.

Dulquer Salmaan did his schooling at Kochi’s Toc-H Public School and Chennai’s Sishya School. Later, he attended Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, USA to pursue a Bachelor of Business Management (BBM). Dulquer had an inclination towards directing since his childhood. He used to make short films when he was 14-15 years old. He often took his father’s camera and play around with it. Subsequent to finishing his graduation, he served as a Business Manager at a reputed firm in the US. Thereafter, he did an LT.-related business in Dubai. Later, he got employed himself in the Barry John Acting Studio in Mumbai to pursue a 3 months acting session.
Dulquer made his acting debut in 2012 with the Malayalam Film “Second Show” in which he played the role of Harilal “Lalu.” The film earned him a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Next, he appeared in Ustad Hotel as Faizal “Faizy.” After the commercial success of ABCD: American-Born Confused Desi and Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, Dulquer stepped into the Tamil Film Industry. He started his Tamil film appearance with the romantic comedy film Vaayai Moodi Pesavum.

Dulquer Salmaan continued it by starring in the collection romantic drama Bangalore Days in 2014, one of the top-grossing Malayalam movies. He obtained further achievement in Tamil cinema with Mani Ratnam’s romance O Kadhal Kanmani in 2014, a crucial and commercial success. Salmaan accumulated wide critical plaudits for playing the titular role in the 2015 romantic drama Charlie, winning him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor.
