| Controversies | • There were reports that Shruti Haasan and Dhanush got carried away with their romantic scenes on the sets of ‘3’ movie in 2011, which later turned out to be an affair. However, Dhanush’s wife slammed such rumors. • In November 2016, Kathiresan and Meenaal, an old couple from Thiruppuvanam, Tamil Nadu, claimed that they are the real parents of Dhanush. Dhanush completed his schooling at Thai Sathya Matriculation High School, Chennai. Then he went to Madurai Kamraj University (Distance Education) Madurai, Tamil Nadu, and completed his degree in BCA (Correspondence).
He debuted in the movie Thulluvadho Ilamai under the direction of his father Kasthuri Raja. The movie became a great hit all over Tamil Nadu. Then, he was marketed by his brother Selvaraghavan for Kadhal Konden, it was Selva’s debut film and it received big fame for Dhanush. Career
Dhanush’s first flop Pudhukottaiyilirindhu Saravanan which was directed by Stanley. Then, Sullan film also flopped in the same category due to his poor physique, and both these action films failed. Again, Dhanush teamed up with his brother for the film Pudhupettai. He portrayed the character of a gangster, his body language and acting received him numerous fans but the film did only a normal at the box office. Then, Dhanush enjoyed success after three years with the commercial smash of Thiruvilayadal Arambam. The film showed the love story of a poor guy and a rich girl in a funny sense.
Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram released and it became a big failure in his career. It was a remake of the Kannada film Jogi. Then came Polladhavan during Deepvali, directed by a debutant Vetrimaran, which displayed as a superhit. Dhanush also performed in a cameo role, for his father-in-law Rajinikanth’s film Kuselan. For the 2nd time, he went with Vetrimaran and the film earned positive reviews. He received the Best Actor award in 2011 in the 58th National Awards for the film Aadukalam.
The film 3 was directed by his wife, Aishwarya. The film became a commercial hit and his Why this Kolaveri Di Song became a big favorite on YouTube, which obtained him his Hindi debut film Ranjhanaa. For the first time, he appeared in A R Rahman’s music Mariyaan, a movie by Bharath Bala. He hardly acts as a playback singer and lyricist as well, usually in his individual movies. Dhanush was introduced as a playback singer in Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan by its composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and collided again with him in his brother Selvaraghavan’s directorial, Pudhupettai. Dhanush sang some songs in Selvaraghavan’s movies Aayirathil Oruvan and Mayakkam Enna.
