About Snehan

Snehan is a very well known Tamil poet, lyricist, politician and actor. He mostly works in Tami film industry. He officially started his career as a intermediate teacher in the private school. He also worked as an assistant director with famous poet and lyricist Vairamuthu. He entered in politics on 21-02-2018 by joining political party Makkal Needhi Maiam and also participated in Lok Sabha election. In 2021 Tamil Nadu election he participated for Makkal Needhi Maiam as a candidate for Virugambakkam Constituency. He became more popular after appearing in Big Boss Season 1 where he is also able to made his place in finale.

Snehan initially started his career as an teacher in the school. But after sometime he moved to Chennai and joined with Vairamuthu as an assistant assistant director. He worked for three years for monthly magazine “Ilanthendral” as an editor. He is very good writer. In 1995 at the time of his book launch function of his books ”Mudhal Adhyayam” and ”Innum Pengal Azhaga Irukkirargal” he got a offer by K. Balachander to write a song for his film. He got the opportunity to work with music director S. A. Rajkumar for the film “Putham Puthu Poove” but unfortunately it can’t be released. His writing journey starting from there since then he written more than 2500 lyrics for songs for almost 500 movies. He worked with many well known music composers and directors in Tamil movies industry. He got many praises for the first time for his songs in the dubbed film Kandein Seethaiyai and art film Penngal. Then he got a big breakthrough for a song “Avaravar Vazhkaiyil” from Cheran’s family drama film Pandavar Bhoomi. Some other hit song written by Snekan are “Chumma Chumma” in the film Charlie Chaplin and album “Dhaya”. He received huge praises in 2000 for his works with Ameer and Yuvan Shankar Raja in the movie Mounam Pesiyadhe.

He stepped into acting field with the action drama film “Yogi”. for the same movie he also written all lyrics. Also he started his journey as a playback singer with the same film. After that he decided to make career in acting. He got trained under stunt choreographer Power Pandian to practise action scenes and also learnt various dance forms. After that he was appeared in crime thriller movie “Uyarthiru 420” in 2011. He started working in historical film named “Raja Raja Chozhanin Porval ” which is directed by R. S. Amudheswar. They decided to start shoot in mid 2013 with the Shriya Saran, Sneha and Naatiya to play leading roles. Unfortunately film was canceled due to financial issue. He started work on Ramesh Maharajan’s movie “Bommi Veeran” but the same thing happen like his previous film.

In 2017 he participated in Tamil reality show “Bigg Boss” hosted by Kamal Haasan where he is able to made his place in final and ended up as a runners up.  During the show he announced proposal to build a library in Tamil Nadu with the prize money he got. On Feb 21, 2018 when Kamal Haasan’s political party Makkal Needhi Maiam launched Snehan officially joined the party and become committee member. In 2019 Legislative Assembly election of Tamil Nadu he contesting on behalf of Makkal Needhi Maiam for Sivaganga Constituency.  ((IMDB))
