Nitin Patel is a well known Indian politician and associated with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Currently he serves as a Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat. He is also cabinet minister of Medical Education, Health, Road and Building, Family Welfare and Capital Project. His previous roles include Minister of Water Supply, Water Resources, and Commissioner of Urban Development and Housing. Nitin Patel started his political career with Municipality of Kadi in Mehsana district as a member and also became its president. In 1990, he became the first MLA of Gujarat’s eighth legislative assembly. Since 1995, he has been serving in the Cabinet of the BJP government. Since 5 August 2016 he is Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat and also serves as the Medical Education, Family Welfare, Health, Capital Project and  Road and Building. He also served as minister of Water Resources, Urban Development and Urban Housing and Water Supply. In Gujarat assembly elections in 2002 he lost the election of Kadi seat to his competitor Baldevji Chanduji of congress. But in next election in 2007 He get his seat when he won the election by just 1327 votes. In the year 2012 he won and elected from Mehsana assembly constituency by defeating congress candidate Patel Natvarlal Pitambardas. In next election 2017 he again elected as the Gujarat Legislative Assembly where he defeated Patel Jivabhai Ambalal of INC. At the same time he again selected as deputy chief minister of the Gujarat.

In his starting phase he worked for Kadi Nagarpalika for around 15 years as a member and also worked as Chairman of different Committees such as Executive Committee of Kadi Nagarpalika. He was also involved in some politics during his study life. He was elected as GS in Kadi Taluka Navnirman Committee. In 1976 he was GS of students union of C.N. Arts and B.D. Commerce College, Kadi. During 1984 to 1988 he served as Director of Kadi Agricultural Produce Market Committee. For around 8 years he was also a director of Mehsana District Cooperative Bank Ltd. Along with politics he is also a businessmen and owns a oil and cotton ginning companies in Kadi taluka. During the Patidar quota agitation, he led a senior level ministry committee that discussed the issue of protesting Patidars. There hasn’t been a lot of attention paid to Nitin Patel in the national media. But As a result of his comments, the terror attack at Pathankot airbase made national news.
