As part of the campaign, 10 cents from each purchase of select Freihofer’s products will be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation. Qualifying items will be marked with special tags in most Market 32 and Price Chopper stores.
“By partnering with Freihofer’s, we’re inviting our customers to join us in making a tangible difference,” Pam Cerrone, director of community relations for Market 32 and Price Chopper, said.
According to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Parkinson’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that damages dopamine-producing neurons. Symptoms include tremor, stiffness and balance issues, as well as non-movement issues like depression, constipation and sleep problems.
Parkinson’s disease affects about 1 million people in the U.S., with almost 90,000 people newly diagnosed each year, the Parkinson’s Foundation reported. While no cure exists for the disease, current treatments can improve quality of life.
