She gained prominence for her performances in Kushi, Snegithiye, Kaaka Kaaka, Perazhagan, Chandramukhi, June R, Pachaikili Muthucharam, Mozhi, and 36 Vayadhinile, winning three Filmfare Awards, three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, three Dinakaran Award, Cinema Express Awards, International Tamil Film Awards, and other awards and nominations.
Jyothika was born in a Hindu family on 18 October 1978, in Mumbai. Jyothika was born to Chander Sadanah, a film producer Seema Sadanah, in Mumbai, India. Actress Nagma is her half-sister. She also has a sister Roshini (born Radhika) and a brother Suraj, who is working as an assistant director for Priyadarshan. Jyothika married actor Surya Sivakumar on September 11, 2006. The couple has a daughter, named Diya, who was born in 2007, and a son Dev (born 7 June 2010).

Life Journey
Jyothika completed her schooling at Learners Academy, Mumbai. She went to College Mithibai College, Mumbai, and completed graduation in Psychology. Jyothika started her acting career in 1998 by playing the role of Pallavi Sinha in the Bollywood film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna.
Her first Tamil movie as a lead artist was Poovellam Kettuppar with Surya Sivakumar. She starred in Kushi, for which she won the Filmfare Best Tamil Actress Award, Mugavari, Thenali, and Dumm Dumm Dumm.

Career
In the year 2003 Jyothika starred in Thirumalai, Dhool, and Kaaka Kaaka. She appeared in her first dual role in Perazhagan and got the Dinakaran Best Actress Award and the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress, in the year 2004.
In Chandramukhi, she played the role of a woman who experienced a mental illness for which she won another Tamil Nadu State Film Award. Her performances in movies like Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu and Sillunu Oru Kaadhal followed. She also acted in the Radha Mohan-directed Mozhi, where she played a deaf and mute girl and in Gautham Menon’s Pachaikili Muthucharam and in Manikanda.
She made her comeback to Tamil Cinema with 36 Vayadhinile, a remake of the hit Malayalam flick How Old Are You? (film). Jyothika was next seen as a housewife struggling to find her own identity in Kaatrin Mozhi, the Tamil remake of Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu. The movie was directed by Radha Mohan and marked his reunion with her after the critically acclaimed Mozhi.
After the success of Kaatrin Mozhi, she signed 3 movies, Raatchasi, produced by Dream Warrior Pictures in which she plays a school teacher Jackpot, in which she performs as a cop co-starring Revathi under 2D Entertainment, and Thambi, a Jeethu Joseph movie with Karthi.
