Zahir Raihan was a Bangladeshi well-known filmmaker, novelist and writer. He comes to the timeline around the country for the documentary film regarding Liberation War of Bangladesh ‘Stop Genocide’. Zahir turned himself into the enemy of Pakistanis by making the film. The renowned writer  is his brother. He is highly respected by the Bangladeshi people for his contribution during the Liberation War.

Zahir Raihan married twice in personal life. First of all, he married Sumita Devi in 1961 who was a film actress. He has two sons Bipul Raihan and Anol Raihan by his first marriage. Secondly, he married well-known film actress in 1968. He has a son named Topu Raihan by the second marriage. Bangladeshi well-known model and actress   is his brother  daughter.

Early Life:

Born Mohammad Zahirullah on August 19, 1935, in Mazupur, Feni, Bangladesh. He returned to his village with family after the partition of India in 1947. Zahir completed graduation from the University of Dhaka in Bengali. He was so much passionate about media arena from early childhood eventually build up his career in the targeted field.

Zahir Raihan Career:

Zahir Raihan kicked off the career journey as a journalist in a newspaper in 1950. In 1957, he started the journey in the film industry with the movie ‘Jago Huya Sabera’ working as an assistant. He made directorial debut in the movie industry with the movie ‘Kokhono Asheni’ in 1961. Following the year, he made the movie ‘Sonar Kajol’. In 1961, he made a commercially successful movie ‘Kancher Deyal’. The first color film was made by him with the movie ‘Sangam’ in 1964. Then Zahir made another successful movie ‘Behula’. He made an outstanding working effort in the movie ‘Jibon Theke Neya’ in 1970 which a political satire movie based on Bengali Language Movement story. He draws the wide attention of people when made the documentary film ‘Stop Genocide’ based on the story of genocide done by the Pakistanis during the liberation war of Bangladesh. [2]IMDB

Disappearance:

Zahir Raihan came to Dhaka after the independence of the country and started to looking his missing brother   who abducted by the Pakistani Army. he went to Mirpur for searching brother and never returned. It is believed that he was killed by Bihari and Pakistani Army.
