Vicky Kaushal was born on May 16, 1988. He is an Indian actor who works in Hindi films. Born of director Sham Kaushal, he earned an engineering degree from the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology. Aspiring to a career in film, Kaushal assisted Anurag Kashyap in the crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) and then played a minor role in two of Kashyap’s productions. Her first lead role was in the independent drama Masaan (2015), which earned her the IIFA and Screen Awards for a best male debut.
Kaushal was born on May 16, 1988 in a Chawl in the suburbs of Mumbai to Sham Kaushal, stuntman and then director of action films in Hindi. His younger brother, Sunny, is also an actor. His family is Punjabi. Kaushal described himself as an “ordinary kid who was interested in studying, playing cricket and watching movies”. His father wanted his son to have a stable career, so Kaushal pursued engineering studies in electronics and telecommunications at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology in Mumbai. During an industrial visit to a computer company, he realized that an office job would not suit him and he began to aspire to a career in cinema.
