About Soundarya

Soundarya Sathyanarayana (July 18, 1971 – April 17, 2004) was an Indian actress and producer who worked in the Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi films, mainly in the lead roles.

Soundarya was born into a family of Kannada and has producer K. S. Satyanarayana, writer and producer of kannada film. She interrupted her M.B.B.S. first year in Bangalore. She married G. S. Raghu, a childhood friend and software engineer. She enjoyed great popularity and immense benevolence among Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and is probably the most successful actress after the story of Mahanati Savitri in the history of Telugu cinema. It is often called “Savitri of modern Telugu cinema”. She died in a plane crash in 2004 with her brother Amarnath in Bangalore during an election campaign.
