Prabhu Deva is a well-known Indian dance choreographer, film director, actor, producer. He has worked predominantly in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu language movies. In a career crossing 32 years, he has made and designed a broad range of dance styles and has earned 2 National Film Awards for Best Choreography. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2019 for his contributions to dance.

Prabhu was born into a Ungayat Hindu Family on 3 April 1973 in Mysore, Karnataka. His father’s name is Mugur Sundar, has worked as a choreographer in South-Indian movies and His mother’s name is Mahadevamma. Prabhu has 2 brothers, Raju Sundaram and Nagendra Prasad, both are choreographers. After being in a relationship with Ramlath, Parbhu married him secretly. She even changed her name from Ramlath to Latha. Later, they were blessed with three sons, Vishal, Rishi Raghavendra Deva, and Adhith Deva. On 2 July 2010, the couple got separated, after, Prabhu admitted the rumors of his affair with actress Nayanthara to be sure.

Controversies	In 2010, Prabhu Deva’s wife, Latha, filed a petition at the family court, seeking orders to prevent her husband from entering into a live-in relationship with his alleged girlfriend Nayanthara. Prabhu Deva got training in Bharatanatyam (an Indian classical dance form) from, Dharmaraj and Udupi Lakshminarayanan. He dropped out of his school and assisted his father in dance choreography in the South-Indian films.

Prabhu Deva made his debut as a boy playing the flute in the song “Panivizhum Iravu”, from the Tamil movie Mouna Ragam in 1986. After numerous appearances as a dancer, he made his debut as a lead actor in the film Indhu. In 1994, he made his career breakthrough in his 2nd move Kadhalan directed by S. Shankar. Deva acted as a college student who loves the daughter of the state governor, who has ties with a terrorist. Career

Prabhu Deva starred in numerous commercially successful movies like Minsara Kanavu in 1997 and VIP in 1997, where for the latter he went on to get the National Film Award for Best Choreography for his work in the songs Vennilave and Strawberry Kannae. In 1998, Deva was critically acclaimed for his performance in the comedy Kaathala Kaathala, co-starring Kamal Haasan. Despite the successful ventures like Eazhaiyin Sirippil in 2000 and Ullam Kollai Poguthae in 2001, He was unable to recreate the success he had in his earlier years and several of his movies didn’t perform well financially.

In 2005, Prabhu made his debut as a director in the Telugu movie Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana. The film earned critical acclaim and went on to become a blockbuster. Following the victory of his directorial ventures, he began to prioritize directing over acting. Infrequently he starred in a lead role in dance movies like Style in 2006, ABCD in 2013, and its sequel ABCD 2 in 2015.

Prabhu Deva placed the production company Prabhu Deva Studios and produced the film Devi, which was directed by A. L. Vijay in the year 2016. The film marked the return of Deva to Tamil cinema as an actor after an 11-year hiatus. The movie was acclaimed critically and was a financial success at the box office. After the success of the movie, Deva appeared in Gulaebaghavali, the silent film Mercury and Lakshmi in the year 2018. In the year 2019, Deva had a lineup of sequel films including Charlie Chaplin 2, a sequel to Deva’s Charlie Chaplin, and Devi 2. Both movies were met with negative reviews and failed commercially.
