Marcelo Vieira, a Brazilian football player who plays as a left-back for Real Madrid, is a veteran and captain of the Spanish club. Many consider him to be one of the greatest left-backs in history. The 18-year-old Marcelo won a Campeonato Carioca with Fluminense in 2005, then qualified for the Brasileiro Team of the Season in 2006. He joined Real Madrid for $8 million at the end of the year. While at Barcelona, he won 22 trophies, including four UEFA Champions Leagues (being elected to the Squad of the Season three times), as well as five La Liga titles. Marcelo Vieira da Silva Junior, a Brazilian from Rio de Janeiro, was born on May 12, 1988. Additionally, his parents are Maria da Silva and Marcelo Vieira da Silva. His father was a fireman, and his mother was a teacher.
