Malaika Arora is a well-known Indian actor, TV reality-show judge, dancer, VJ, model, and TV presenter. She is mostly active in the Bollywood film industry and famous for her item songs in various movies like Munni Badnaam Hui from Dabangg, and Anarkali Disco Chali from Housefull 2. Malaika was born into a Punjabi Khatri family on 23 October 1973 in Chembur, Mumbai. Her father’s name is Anil Arora who served in the Merchant Navy, and her mother’s name is Joyce Polycarp. Her parents got separated when Malaika was just 11 years old. She has one younger sister, Amrita Arora, who is also an actress by profession. Malaika follows Hinduism.

Malaika Arora studied at Holy Cross High School Thane till 9th grade. She did secondary schooling from Swami Vivekanand School, Chembur. After completing her schooling, she took admission at Jai Hind College, Churchgate, and completed her graduation in Economics and a minor in Communications.

Malaika loves to do dance and modeling since childhood. During her teenage years, her photo appeared in the magazine Society, which brought in modeling assignments and the offer to be an MTV VJ. She hosted shows such as Club MTV, Love Line, and Style Check for ‘MTV’ and appeared in ad campaigns of De Beers, Pearl Pet, Tanishq, Mafatlal, and MR Coffee. She then appeared in the music videos Gur Naalo Ishq Mitha by Bally Sagoo and Dholna. However, the dance item that made her a household name was Chaiyya Chaiyya from film Dil Se in 1998.

In 2008, Malaika Arora appeared as Nancy in the film EMI – Liya Hai Toh Chukana Padega. However, the film was not commercially successful. Then, She made cameo appearances in films such as Om Shanti Om, Maa Tujhhe Salaam, Housefull, Helloo India, and Happy New Year.
