Barrister Mainul Hosein is a Bangladeshi prominent lawyer, politician, and publisher of the daily newspaper ‘The Daily New Nation’. He elected parliament member from Pirojpur constituency in 1973 as a member of Bangladesh Awami League.Hosein also served as an advisor to the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh during January 2007 – January 2008. He was arrested by police on October 22, 2018, at night from Abdur Rab’s residence, Uttara in a defamation case what filed in Rangpur court.

Early Life & Education:

Mainul Hosein was born in January 1940 to Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah and Mazeda Begum. His father Manik Miah was a prominent journalist, politician, and editor of The Ittefaq. He has two sisters and a brother named Anwar Hossain Manju who is the current Minister of Water Resources. Hosein studied at the University of Dhaka and earned his bachelor’s in political science. Then he joined Middle Temple to study law and called to the Bar in 1965 as well as became a Barrister-at-Law.

Mainul Hosein Arrest:

Mainul Hosein arrested on October 22, 2018, over a talk show remarks which aired on October 16 night. In this talk show, he told characterless to a woman journalist named Masuda Bhatti during answering her question. The filed a case in Dhaka with the Court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. But he arrested in a case which was filed in Rangpur with the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court.
