Jagapathi Babu was born into a high-class Hindu family on 12 February 1962 in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. His father’s name is Late Veeramachaneni Rajendra who was a film producer. His mother’s name is not known. He has an elder brother named Ram Prasad. Once the actor said that his mother stopped talking to him for almost 2 years after she caught him smoking and saw him accompanying a girl.

Jagapathi Babu is married to Lakshmi, it was an arranged marriage. Apparently, the actor was in love with a girl when he was young but his mother was against that relationship and got him married to the girl of her choice. Later, he mentioned that his mother’s choice was right but that made him realize the value of love. Life Journey

After completed primary education Jagapathi Babu did graduation from Chaitanya College, Hyderabad. He started his career with the movie “Manchi Manushulu” as a child artist in 1974. In the year 1989, he initiated his filmy career with a Telugu movie titled ‘Simha Swapnam’ was produced by his father and directed by V. Madhusudhan Rao.

Jagapathi Babu worked in a few films such as Adavilo Abhimanyudu, Chinnari Muddula Papa, Pandirimancham, Sahasam, Asadhyulu, etc before his first commercially successful, blockbuster movie ‘Peddarikam’ in 1992. Ram Gopal Varma’s film ‘Gaayam‘ gave him a breakthrough in 1993.

Career

The actor gained star status and was able to reach a huge audience with the 1994 super hit movie ‘Subha Lagnam’. S V Krishna Reddy’s ‘Maavichiguru’ added one more hit to his career. His role in the thriller movie’ Manoharam.’ Was greatly appreciate by the audience. His next projects Anukokunda Oka Roj, Kabaddi Kabaddi, Pedababu, and Athade Oka Sainyam were the runway hits during 2003-2005.2007 film ‘Lakshyam ‘ gave him fame as a supporting actor.

Jagapathi Babu made a debut in Tamil films with a movie ‘Madrasi’. He then appeared in another Tamil movie ‘Thaandavam’ in which he played the character of an antagonist. His next movie ‘Jai Bolo Telangana’ brought him a huge success.

Later, He made a debut in Kannada cinema with the movie ‘Bachchan’ in 2012. He played the character of a cop and actor Sudeep was in a lead role. Jagapathi made a comeback to the Tamil Cine industry with the movie ‘Puthagam’ in 2013. He has played different types of characters, including antagonists, villains, father figures, etc.

The actor was seen in ‘Legend’ as an antagonist and then as a villain in Rajinikanth starer ‘Lingaa’. Ra Ra… Krishnayya, Current Theega, O Manishi Katha, Nannaku Prematho, Kaththi Sandai are few of his movies. He worked on movies such as Patel S. I. R., Jaya Janaki Nayaka, Oxygen, and Hello in 2017.

His upcoming projects include Aadhi, Odiyan, Rangasthalam, Uppi Rupee, and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. He has also worked as a dubbing artist for the movie ‘The BFG’ in 2016.
