Gurmeet Choudhary was born in a middle-class Hindu family on 22 February 1984 in Chandigarh, India. His father’s name is Sitaram Choudhary, a retired Subehdar Major in Army and his mother’s name is Anmol Choudhary. Gurmeet has a brother Gangaram Choudhary, a doctor. His grandfather used to call him Shashi Kapoor and that’s how he got his nickname, Shashi.

Life Journey

Since his childhood, Gurmeet has a keen interest in acting and used to participate in drama competitions during his school days. Later he got training in dance from Shiamak Davar’s dance academy in Mumbai.

Gurmeet Choudhary made his television debut with the Hindi TV serial Yeh Meri Life Hai in 2004 as Gurmeet. In the same year, he appeared in Star Plus’s TV serial “Kumkum- Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan”, as Ballu.

In the year 2006, Gurmeet Choudhary made his Tamil debut with the show ‘Mayavi’, where he played the character of Hiranyan. Gurmeet got huge recognization after portraying the role of Lord Ram and Vishnu in the famous television show ‘Ramayan’. This show was broadcast from 2008 to 2009.

Career

Gurmeet next appeared in the show ‘Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi’ as Maan Singh Khurana along with TV actress Drashti Dhami. This show was one of the popular shows of that time which was aired on STAR One.

Choudhary participated in the reality show Pati Patni Aur Woh with Debina Bonnerjee in 2009. In 2013, he participated in the fifth season of popular dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa with choreographer Shampa Sonthalia and also got the title of winner. In the same year, he, along with his wife, participated in another dance reality show ‘Nach Baliye Season 6’ where they ended up as the first runner-up.

He also participated in season 5 of the action reality show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi. Where he was named the first runner-up and he rose to prominence for the Bollywood Film Khamoshiyan in 2015. In the next year, he appeared in the lead role of Bollywood film Wajah Tum Ho.
