Gordhan Zadafia is a very well-known Indian politician from Gujarat, India. Currently, he is associated with one of the biggest Indian political party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). before his joining with BJP he was a leader of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) for almost 15 years. The Gujarat Legislative Assembly twice elected him to its membership, once during 1995-1997 and once during 1998-2002. Gordhan Zadafia also served as General Secretary of BJP. Gordhan bhai wanted to be a politician since is very early age. He served as a leader in Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) for around 15 years. After that he joined one of he top political party of India Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). with BJP he served as General Secretary in Ahmedabad and also elected twice in Gujarat Legislative Assembly during 1995–97 and 1998–2002 as a member.

During 2001–2002 when Narendra Modi was CM of gujarat he was Minister of State for Home and Security and Police Housing of Government of Gujarat. During his time as head of Gujarat VHP, Zadafia was a close associate of Praveen Togadia.

According to media reports, Modi appointed him as a cabinet minister in exchange for his support for the chief ministership. During 2002 Gujarat riots his name was involved in Making sympathetic police officers responsible for violence during the process of assigning them to high-level posts. Rahul Sharma was one of the police officers transferred. A police raid was conducted on his orders, claiming refugee camps housed rioters. He was dropped from the cabinet by Narendra Modi after the elections in December 2002 to signal a break with the BJP. So Gordhan created new political party name Mahagujarat Janata Party.

At the time of assembly elections of Gujarat in 2007 he mergerd his party with former chief minister Keshubhai Patel’s party Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP). The Gujarat Parivartan Party campaigned hard against the BJP during the 2012 assembly elections. However, Zadafia and his team could not win the 2012 elections. Narendra Modi’s image as an anti-hardline Hindutva leader was strengthened by the VHP’s support for Zadafia.

As part of its investigation into Zadafia’s role in the 2002 riots, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) questioned him three times by Supreme Court. Various reports stated Zadafia was inclined to testify against Modi following the SIT finding evidence against him and senior police officers. Zadafia refrained from taking action after pressure from RSS leaders. Gujarat Parivartan Party was merged into the BJP on 24 February 2014 by Former member of BJP Zadafia.

• He left BJP after 2002 election and then he created his own party Mahagujarat Janata Party and later he merge this party with keshubapa’s party Gujarat Parivartan Party.
• With GPP he competed against BJP but he couldn’t win. Unfortunately in 2014 he again rejoined BJP and merged BJP into it.
