He learned music from Ustad Madan Mohan Das, Ustad Abdul Aleem,  Ustad Sadek Ali, Ustad Sohrab Hossain, and Ustad Fazlul Huq. He initially started learning Rabindrasangeet, but he received training on Indian classical music, folk songs, etc. Finally, he decided to be a pop singer. With his sonorous voice and melodic tunes, he won the heart of Bangladeshi audiences
