She was indeed the protagonist of the ABC television drama Grace Under Fire from 1993 until 1998. Throughout the program, she struggled with repeated substance abuse and attended a stint in hospital.

In the same year, she was fired from the show after ABC cancelled it owing to her unpredictable conduct caused by substance usage.
