Born on February 26, 1942, in Kolkata, India, Syed Manzur Elahi hailed from a family deeply rooted in civil services. His father, Sir Syed Nasim Ali, served as the Chief Justice of undivided Bengal in 1946. Elahi completed his Bachelor of Arts from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, and later earned a master’s degree in economics from the University of Dhaka. He married Niloufer Manzur in 1966, who founded Sunbeams School in 1974. The couple contracted COVID-19 in 2020, leading to Niloufer’s passing on May 26, 2020.
