Alvaro Antonio Garcia Perez commonly known as Alvaro Morte is a Spanish actor who is popular for portraying the role of The Professor or Sergio Marquina in the Spanish TV series Money Heist (La Casa de Papel). He was born on February 23, 1975, in Algeciras, Cadiz, Spain, but moved with his family to Buzalens, Cordoba, shortly after. Initially, Alvaro enrolled in a communications engineering degree, but later he switched to dramatic arts and graduated in 1999 from Escuela Superior de Arte Dramatico de Cordoba. Morte also has a postgraduation degree which he got from the University of Tampere and after some time went back to Madrid.

Morte began his acting career with a small role in the Spanish television series Hospital Central and later made his first lead role in a TV series in Planta 25, in which he played Ray Driver from 2007 to 2008.
He then portrayed the role of Lucas Moliner, a small-town physician in El Secreto de Puente Viejo in 2014.
After that Morte began playing the role of “El Professor” (Sergio Marquina) in 2017 in the television series Money Heist.
He received a lot of appreciation for his portrayal of the careful criminal mastermind behind the robbery plot. The series became a huge success and became the first most-watched non-English series.
He got his first starring part in a feature film after Money Heist in the Netflix film Mirage (2018).
In 2019 he began filming the series El Embarcadero, playing the role of Oscar, a man who has lived a double life living separately with two different women and was announced to join the cast of the Amazon television series The Wheel of Time Key, which is an adaptation of the epic fantasy.
